SPRINGFIELD, OH — The Sidney Yellow Jackets punched their ticket to the Division I District Tournament after finishing second at the D-I Sectional held at Windy Knoll Golf Club. The team fired an impressive 303 to secure their spot among the region’s elite.

Leading the charge was senior standout Brooks Taylor, who carded a 73. Taylor was red-hot on the front nine, going 2-under and setting the tone early for Sidney’s strong day on the course.

Right behind him, CJ Goffena and Jake Scully both delivered clutch performances, each shooting a 75. Their steady play helped keep the Jackets firmly in contention throughout the round.

Rounding out the scoring were Myles Steenrod with an 80 and Cruz Tackett with an 84—both contributing valuable depth to the team total.

With their second-place finish, the Yellow Jackets now advance to the District Tournament, where they will compete at Pipestone Golf Course on October 6th for a shot at qualifying for the State Tournament.

Head coach Bill Rippey praised the team’s focus and composure under pressure.

“We came in knowing we had to play clean, smart golf,” the coach said. “Brooks set the tone early, and the rest of the guys followed. This group has been locked in all season.”

As Sidney looks ahead to Districts, they’ll aim to keep the momentum rolling and continue their postseason run.
