The fall sports season for Sidney Athletics wrapped up on Saturday with three individuals competing in the Division 2 Regional Cross Country Championships on the banks of the Great Miami River in Troy. The first 2 miles of the course is on the floodplain of the river, then a steep climb up the banks and the runners finish off the last mile in the grass behind the away stands of Troy Memorial Stadium. Ideal racing conditions of 50 degree temps, little wind and partially overcast skies made for a great day of running.

None of the runners advanced to the state meet next weekend, but all were able to hit PR times in their first time running at the Regional Championships.

Emma Schmiesing (So) ran a 5 second PR with a 24:35, finishing in 166th place out of 190 runners. Emma’s average 5k time this season was 26:20, 53 seconds faster than her 5k average last season.

Dakota Porter (So) ran a massive 36 second PR with a 19:32, finishing in 135th place out of 174 runners. Dakota’s average 5k time this season was 20:20, 52 seconds faster than his 5k average last season.

Marlon Tucker (So) tied his PR with a 19:33, finishing in 136th place out of 174 runners. Marlon’s average 5k time this season was 20:51, a staggering 2:18 faster than his 5k average last season.
