Sidney Middle School’s wrestling team delivered an impressive performance at the 2025 Sidney Middle School Invitational, finishing second overall in a highly competitive field. The tournament showcased the depth and determination of the Sidney squad, with 18 wrestlers earning podium finishes and three individual champions leading the way.

Leading the charge were Shayne Cable, Cale Westerbeck, and Daedrean Johnson, each capturing first place in their respective weight classes. Cable dominated the 128-pound division, displaying strong technique and consistency throughout the tournament. Westerbeck emerged victorious at 142 pounds, battling through tough matches to claim the championship. Johnson rounded out the champions with a standout performance in the 150-pound weight class, demonstrating power and poise on his way to the title.

Beyond the champions, Sidney’s success was built on a strong team effort. With 18 total placers, wrestlers across multiple weight classes contributed crucial points that helped propel the team to its second-place finish. The performance reflected both individual growth and the collective strength of the program.

Finishing runner-up at their own invitational is a testament to the hard work put in by the athletes and coaches, and it sets a positive tone for the remainder of the season. With momentum on their side, the Sidney Middle School wrestlers have shown they are a team to watch in 2025.
